About WYLDA

WYLDA is the voluntary and community sector support and development consortium for West Yorkshire.

Our mission:

To ensure that sustainable and appropriate support and development is in place in West Yorkshire to meet the needs of all frontline voluntary and community groups.

Our aims:

1. To work in partnership to ensure a co-ordinated approach across the sub-region in carrying out activities that maximise and develop the potential of voluntary and community groups.

2. To ensure knowledge and expertise is shared in order to increase good practice and collaborative working across the voluntary and community sector.

3. To provide effective support for front line organisations to build a strong and independent sector.

4. To address the governance needs of the voluntary and community sector.

5. To advocate for a more sustainable voluntary and community sector where support needs and gaps in provision are met effectively.

Our structure:

WYLDA is a network of members organisations, led by the WYLDA Executive Group of 17 members. Our governing documents are our Terms of Reference.

In order to carry out activities and work towards our mission and aims, WYLDA makes use of a district-level infrastructure consortia in the five districts of West Yorkshire (Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield), as well as a number of sub-groups, project groups, and links with other groups.

More information about activities in the five districts can be found by clicking the following links, or clicking on the name of the district in the top right hand corner of this page:

We were funded by Capacitybuilders until March 2011 for activities that contribute towards achieving our Business Plan. Since April 2011 WYLDA has no longer been externally funded.
